About US

About US – Jahan Ghire Pars (Pars Universal Bitumen-PUB ) is head quartered in ESFAHAN . Mining and processing are located in Kermanshah.

At Kermanshah PUB operates a network of underground Gilsonite mines and refining plant, and a pulverizing plant with multiple capabilities.

Our plants have advanced materials handling and packing facilities, storage silos and bins for 8,000 tons of product and a covered warehouse with multiple loading docks.

About US - Jahan Ghire Pars (Pars Universal Bitumen-PUB )

PUB quality control labs conduct extensive product testing on every order we ship. PUB currently has about 50 full-time employees, most of them working at the Kermanshah Mine Site, and a worldwide agent and distributor network.

PUB has a long history of supplying its Gilsonite-brand name products for the world market.

The material now called Gilsonite, natural bitumen, mineral bitumen, mineral tar, mineral pitch, bituminous rock asphalt, natural asphalt, Asphaltite, Asfaltite which was discovered in the Kermanshah since 1970.

Modern geologists believe that the origin of Gilsonite is linked to the rich oil shale of the Green River Formation that underlies much of the basin. Deep vertical fissures in the earth’s surface were once filled with a heavy, viscous hydrocarbon that lost its volatile constituents and solidified millions of years ago.

Gilsonite is a glossy, black, solid hydrocarbon resin similar in appearance to coal or hard asphalt. It is brittle and lightweight and can be easily crushed into powder. Its unique chemical properties identify it as belonging to its own sub-group of the PUB Gilsonite family. Gilsonite occurs naturally in a very pure state, and softens in a range of temperatures according to grade, from 302 to 464 degrees Fahrenheit (150-240 degrees Celsius).

It has low specific gravity, high nitrogen content and very lower sulfur content. It is non-carcinogenic and safe to handle in its natural state.
Development and production of this unique material began in 1885 when Samuel H. Gilson characterized the ore and named it Gilsonite.

In 1888, Gilson and a partner formed the Gilsonite Manufacturing Company, American Gilsonite first commercial ancestor. Gilsonite-brand uintaite’s earliest applications included paints for buggies and emulsions for beer-vat lining. The name “Gilsonite” has been registered as a federal trademark since 1921 and is American Gilsonite Company’s exclusive property.

Gilsonite Industrial

Gilsonite Industrial

Gilsonite application in industrial sector consist of, paint, Ink, coat, asphalt, Foundry and construction.

1. Gilsonite in Paint.

A paint consisting essentially of 20 gallons of petroleum solvent, 10 gallons of linseed oil, 10 gallons turpentine, pounds ofGilsonite pigment, 4 gallons varnish mixture consisting of 17.8% pentaerythritol rosin ester, 30.8% dehydrated castor oil, 1.4% of a mixture of lead, cobalt and manganese naphthenates, 1 gallon wetting agent consisting essentially of salts of petroleum sulfonic acids, 2 quarts of drier, and 1 pint of a hydrocarbon silicon penetrating oil, obtained by heating a mixture of finely ground silicon dioxide under pressure to a temperature of about 300 F. with a distillate product obtained by subjectingGilsonite to fractional distillation, said distillate product being that fraction which distills at a temperature range of about 430 F. to 438 F.

2. Gilsonite in Ink

Gilsonite is widely used as the primary carbon black wetting agent for black news inks and headset and toner inks. PUB Gilsonite Resin competes advantageously with hydrocarbon resins, phenolic resins.

3. Gilsonite in Asphalt

We discovered that a synthetic flux oil can contain and deliver asphaltites, such as gilsonite, more easily and readily to an asphalt to improve its properties. The synthetic flux oil includes the asphaltite and a carrier oil. Depending on the nature of the carrier oil, the synthetic flux oil may or may not need to be heated during mixing and incorporation into the asphalt.

4. Gilsonite in Construction

Gilsonite cement compositions are disclosed which utilize petroleum asphalt, natural asphalt, a reactive oil and an elastomer. These compositions produce superior Gilsonite cement that can give low viscosity during application followed by high viscosity, toughness and tenacity after curing on the highway.

5. Foundry

Gilsonite, an additive for foundry sand preblends providing reduced smoke and other emissions, the additive comprising a mixture of one part iron oxide as one part of a highly volatile carbonaceous material, and four parts of metallurgical coke. The additive is used as one quarter of the foundry sand preblend, the other three quarters consisting essentially of clays.

What is Gilsonite ?

Gilsonite is black and natural rock asphalt that can be pulverized and melted to use in the ink, drilling fluid, asphalt and foundry industry. Gilsonite chemical makeup is a complex mix of elements that include sulfur, carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen, as well as small quantities of other elements.

There are several different types and ranks of it. Natural asphalt is classified by degrees of hardness, moisture and softening point. It is hard petroleum, almost hydrocarbon, and containing the highest fuel content. Bituminous rock is a type of Gilsonite , the most common type in Iran, used to mix with oil base products to modify bitumen and to make high quality bitumen for high way and Airports also special Iran Gilsonite using for fluid lose control and stabilizing hole shale.

To determine the origins of Natural Asphalt , one has to look back a long way. Some 300 million years ago, much of Iranian was a swamp covered with giant ferns, reeds and other animals. When the existence died, they fell under water, where the oxygen was not sufficient for them to decay completely. A result was the formation of peat.

As the sea deposited layers of other materials over the peat through the centuries, the peat was tightly compacted and dried. It then hardened, in the final step of a natural process, to become Asphalt.

Because it is composed of once living material, it is known as a “Organic asphalt.” In the heating of Gilsonite, its organic asphalt – the natural asphalt content stored in the ancient existence material – is released. It is oil and natural gas also asphaltite elements.
